1. Who we are

SplitSheets.com (“SplitSheets”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is operated by Maximum Velocity Partners, LLC, 3550 N. Lakeline Blvd., Ste. 170-1013, Leander, Texas 78641, USA.

We provide an online tool that helps songwriters and their collaborators create, sign, store and download split sheets: written records of who contributed to a musical work and in what proportion.

Questions about this policy, or about your data, go to support@splitsheets.com.

2. What this policy covers

This policy covers personal information we collect through splitsheets.com, through the accounts and memberships we provide, and through the split sheets and forms created on the site. It does not cover any other website you reach by following a link from ours.

3. The information we collect

Information you give us directly

  • Account details. Your name, email address and username. Your password is stored only as a cryptographic hash, never in readable form.
  • Membership and payment details. If you buy a membership, your card is processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. We retain the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, the plan you purchased, the amount, and the status of your subscription.
  • Split sheet content. The song title, the names of contributors, their contact details, their ownership percentages, and any performing rights organization or publisher information you enter.
  • Electronic signatures. Where a split sheet is signed on the site, we record the signature image, the date and time, and the IP address of the signer, because those details are what make the signature evidentially useful later.
  • Form submissions. Anything you send through our contact, registration or split sheet forms.

Information about other people that you give us

This is the part most songwriters do not think about, so we are being explicit. When you enter a collaborator’s name, email address, ownership share or signature, you are giving us personal information about someone else. You confirm that you are entitled to do so. We use that information only to produce, deliver and store the split sheet you asked for. A collaborator can contact us at support@splitsheets.com to see, correct or delete their information, subject to the constraint in section 8 about records that form part of a signed document.

Information collected automatically

  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It sets cookies and records pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, and a truncated or full IP address depending on configuration.
  • Security logging. Our security software records IP addresses, login attempts, and requests it blocks. This is how we keep accounts from being broken into.
  • Cookies. Described in section 6.

4. Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who need it to run the service, and only for that purpose:

  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Mailchimp — email marketing, only if you opted in.
  • Google Analytics — site usage measurement.
  • Our hosting and security providers — storage, backup and protection of the site.
  • Email delivery — sending the messages described above.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users. If the business is sold or merged, information may transfer with it, subject to this policy.

6. Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in, to remember your membership access, to make the site load faster, and to measure usage. You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser, but the parts of the site that require signing in will stop working if you block the essential ones.

7. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • show you the personal information we hold about you
  • correct anything that is wrong
  • delete it
  • stop sending you marketing
  • give you a copy in a portable format

If you are in California, you additionally have the right to know the categories of information collected and disclosed, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing for you to opt out of on that front.

If you are in the UK or EU, you additionally have the right to object to processing, the right to restrict it, and the right to complain to your data protection authority.

To exercise any of these, email support@splitsheets.com. We will respond within the time the applicable law requires.

8. How long we keep it

  • Account information: while your account is open, and for a reasonable period afterwards.
  • Split sheets and signatures: for as long as your account is open, and after closure where we are asked to retain them, because a split sheet is evidence of an agreement and deleting one may destroy a record a contributor later relies on. If you ask us to delete a signed split sheet, we will tell you what we can and cannot remove, and why.
  • Payment records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Security logs: a short rolling period.

9. Security

We hold your information on servers protected by access controls, encryption in transit, firewalling and malware scanning, and we restrict staff access to those who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise otherwise. Please keep your own password confidential and do not reuse it elsewhere.

10. Your split sheets are yours

We claim no ownership of the musical works described in your split sheets, or of the split sheets themselves. They belong to you and your collaborators.

A split sheet created on this site is a private record of an agreement between contributors. It is not a copyright registration, it is not filed with any government office or performing rights organization, and nothing on this site is legal advice. If you need a work registered or a dispute resolved, speak to a lawyer.

11. Children

The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. International transfers

We operate from the United States and our providers may process information there. If you access the service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be handled in the United States, where data protection law may differ from your own.

13. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and if the change is significant we will tell account holders by email or by a notice on the site.
